An
important step in the job-hunting process is to figure out what all of your
skills are. The
dictionary definition of a skill is:
- "an ability that has
been acquired by training*."
How
often have you heard someone say "I've spent four years in college, and
still I haven't picked up any skills." Or someone who has just been
laid off after working at a job for two decades say "I just know I'll
have to go back to college, and get retrained, because I don't have any
skills, except maybe at entry level." *
This "training" can be formal, or informal - things you have just
learned from other people or from your own experience! |
